This soul food from Hattie Marie's BBQ was more than filling to my stomach and soul! They had a very good variety and I ordered the catfish, rib, greens and potato salad which also came with a slice of bread. Everything was well seasoned and the food was hot and fresh. Their service was very fast and there was plenty of indoor seating, as it wasn't crowded at all. This restaurant embodied true southern comfort and I'd love to go back and try other menu items.

First of all the damn ribs slide off the bone! While waiting, we heard phone calls for orders of slabs and I get it! Good barbecue sauce but not required on the ribs. We bought four small containers home. Best mac & cheese I have had at a southern restaurant in a very long time. I believe it had multiple cheeses. Parsley, firmness was accurate. It was delicious. The catfish was a beautiful, golden display, very crispy, but not seasoned well. Hot sauce and tartar sauce added needed kick. Service: Customer service was what is expected in Atlanta, however, they were very alert to the long lines and begin to take orders from line which speeded up the process. Young fella served us our meal - very polite. Provided provisions. My one annoyance is very popular and that is gnats and a few flies. Have to find a way to minimize that. That is a turn off. Ambiance. SEE pictures. Thanks Hattie, we'll be back for Ribs!

I happened upon Hattie Marie's while searching the internet for the best BBQ in ATL. I had some extra time before my flight and decided to give it a try. The location was easy to find and on a Saturday afternoon, there was a good stream of customers... people who look like they know good barbecue ;-) The first good sign was the smell of barbecue in the air. The cashier looked mad af, but she was extremely helpful...lol. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt, chalked it up to her having a bad day and took her recommendation on getting the greens and mac with my rib plate. The greens were impressive -- perfectly seasoned, well cooked and just the right amount of smoked turkey. The mac and cheese was well balanced, seasoned and the cheese tasted quality. I like how they served the scoop with the baked side up, great detail. The ribs were standout, the portion was rather large, the meat was well smoked, rightly seasoned and very tender. The plate was serves with bread and I had a self-serve sweet tea. If you are looking for good barbecue, a family atmosphere with good music-- I highly recommend Hattie Marie's

ordered online using the link from their Website. Received an email back saying to call the restaurant, because there is a problem. Tried calling the restaurant 4 different times in 20 minutes... the line was busy each time. So I went there a few minutes before pickup and the order did not show up yet, but they were able to look up my order number and get my order ready. If you are going to be eating there, you would order from the counter then grab the food when it comes out and then grab a table or booth. The seating area is really clean with ample room. I ordered the Brisket Plate $22.99 and it comes with 2 sides. I got Collard Greens and cabbage. I need to say the cabbage was REALLY good. Stewed perfectly with a hint of butter. The greens were tender and a bit salty... goes really well with the cabbage. Now for the star of the show... the brisket. The only compliant I have was that it was not smoked... no smoke ring. Since I was taking it to go, I asked for utensils... the set came with a knife.... there was no use for the the knife. The brisket was tender and juicy. Just the good ratio of fat to meat. The BBQ sauce that came with it was pretty good... started on the sweet side then there was a very tiny bit of heat at the finish.

Cash only!! They do have an ATM in the restaurant. Just thought I'd say that first. We came in on an early Saturday afternoon. Not very busy. Food is made to order. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The guy at the front taking my order was awesome. I think his name was Blu. Well at least that was the name on my ticket. We ordered the 1 meat plate with about 4 pieces of ribs, greens and mac n cheese. (17) 1/2 lb of pulled pork(10) and gumbo (18) Ribs -- delicious! tender with brown sugar rub was great! (not baby back ribs but still yummy) Greens -- alright. Mac n cheese -- alright. I prefer creamier mac n cheese. much more noodle than cheese. Pulled pork -- good Gumbo -- delicious! Huge portion filled with tons of meat. Service was great! From the counter service, to the person bringing out the food and I believe the chef who came around and spoke to us.

Good, fresh food fast!!! I was hooked from first bite!!!! Somebody back in the kitchen really know what they're doing!!! Everything is made from scratch and the chicken is like a flavor explosion is your mouth!!! The service is top notch and I love the retro atmosphere!!!
